There has been a lot of rain and intensely nasty weather during the late spring of 2009. Tornado, flash flood and severe weather warnings seem to pop up everyday on web browsers and network television. It has been quite some time since we've seen this much rain, so many days in a row.
On June 2 a family in the Chapel Hill neighborhood fell victim to the elements.
A 45,000 lb. tree succumbed to the high winds and overly saturated soil and fell, thunderously, into a 3,000 square foot home and put a gaping 800 foot hole in the roof.
While the storm was still unleashing its fury at 4 pm Diamond Restoration received the call to come secure the building and start the drying process. When the storm subsided at 7pm the DRI team was already in place with 1 one crane, 4 flat bed trailers and a chipper shredder.
By 10 pm the tree was removed from the house, broken down into manageable pieces, stacked on the flat beds all small remnants were shredded, the hole was tarped, the structure secured and any further damage was contained.
